Promotion of global healthcare through advanced diagnostics and personalized therapies is an imperative goal at both scientific and social level and point-of-care (POC) testing is the paradigm of the new generation tools developed to achieve this. One of our major research lines is dedicated to implement our biosensor technologies in the clinical and biomedical field as POC devices. In order to achieve this, we carry out complete demonstration (and validation) of their biosensing potential for the detection of a wide variety of disease-related targets, including protein biomarkers, nucleic acids, small peptides, drugs and metabolites, or bacteria and cells. We develop individual specific assays with custom-designed sensing approaches for each particular case, ultimately chasing label-free and direct analysis with the required sensitivity levels. Besides, we have also pioneered advances in the employment of our biosensors for the detection of complex epigenetic events and for the cell regulation analysis.
