Abstract: This article describes the main aspects involved in the development of biosensor devices. Starting from a general description of the basis of any biosensor device, the fabrication, characterization, and applications in several fields as environmental control, clinical diagnosis, and genomics are subsequently addressed. Examples of the most employed biosensors as the Surface Palsmon Resonance sensor or the nanomechanical sensors are described.
